Evaluation: Week 3 (04/03-10/03)

This week focused on finishing my contextual essay and performing some primary research.

The essay work focused on completing the second half, allowing me to put some research towards practitioners in my field and evaluate examples of their work. The purpose of this task was to allow me to learn additional context about my chosen field, and to look deeper into the works of the most influential practitioners in it. It gave me a greater understanding of what goes into the most top of the line title sequences.

This task highlighted my weakness in researching for essays, and I should try to improve on gaining a greater number of sources to form a larger, better, essay.

Secondly, I conducted a survey on the target audience. The purpose of this survey was to collect helpful information to be used during my creation process, and also help me decide what media I wanted to base my title sequence on.

From this task I gained a better understanding of how to collect audience research, and also how to actually utilise it for a purpose in my project.

My main weakness was that I think I could've maybe asked some more questions, adding in more in-depth ones for additional information, and cutting out some that were probably unnecessary like age/gender.

The survey task allowed me to use a bit of problem solving skills, looking at the data recorded and utilising this to figure things out and help aid the development of my project going forward. I used the data to gain a better picture of my target audience, and what they expect and want to see.

The work carried out here in the audience survey shaped the project, by allowing me to select an appropriate videogame to create my title sequence on, fitting to the audience's opinions and demographics; It gave me an opportunity to listen to my audience, something I will need in later stages for feedback and more.
