Evaluation: Week 5 (18/03-24/03)

This week took great strides in furthering my planning, along with strengthening my skills through further after effects experimentation. The week began with me getting further into my planning, putting together a mood board and storyboard for my project. The later half was going back to experimentation, gathering some effects that I found I needed to learn for my sequence after planning some of it.

The purpose of the mood board task was to figure out the aesthetics of my title sequence, looking into the style of the game itself to figure out how my sequence can match that. From this task I learned how to get visual ideas down in a mood board, and found it to be a very easy way to quickly figure out a project's style. This task gave me a greater ability to analyse and understand style in a product, and how to apply and take inspiration in my own product.

I researched storyboarding first, before creating my own, to gain a greater idea of what they contain, and how to develop my own. From carrying out this task my knowledge of how to create a proper storyboard has been heightened, and I have a greater understanding of the pre-production stage of a media product. This shaped my storyboarding task going forward.

The purpose of the storyboard task was to allow me to further visualise the look and style of each shot, and figure out how I want the whole thing to play out. From this I learned how to quickly visualise what I need, to allow me to learn how to think of the final product's look ahead of time. This is vital for any video project, allowing you to visualise and make major changes ahead of production.

The purpose of my further experimentation was to allow myself to learn new techniques necessary to pull off new things I want to use in my title sequence. From this task I have learned a more advanced skillset in after effects, hopefully allowing for the creation of greater final product.

Overall, this week has highlighted my weakness with after effects knowledge, as I still feel I need to learn more about the software to create something truly impressive.

The work carried out here has shaped the project, as it has planned out everything I will be doing throughout the production stage, and what my final product will ultimately be somewhat like. It has also shaped my skills in planning, and understanding the pre-production stage of a video project.
