This post concerns the problems I encountered and overcame during my early planning, from the dates of March 16th to 19th.
16/03
The first problem that I had on 16/03, was that I needed to figure out exactly how to match my music to the video. I had already figured beforehand that I wanted to match the movements of every shot to the music, and for that I had to figure out how many shots I needed and how long they would last.
The way I figured it out, was by putting the music into premiere pro, and marking off every shot change visually. This was also done alongside my notes, because I needed to also get down how many shots I have and how long they are, for ease of access; I also needed to know how many clips from the game I needed, along with what the contents of those clips actually were.
18/03
My second problem, now on 18/03, was that now I needed to figure out what the visual style of my title sequence would be like.
I solved this problem by creating a mindmap, which allowed me to quickly and easily collect up notes and ideas in one accessable and visual format.
This task also helped me solve the problem of figuring out the game's visual style, to aid the visual style of my own work, by easily allowing me to break down and look at the types of colours and styles utilised in the source material.
19/03
My final problem on 19/03 was that I needed some kind of visual aid, to help be better grasp an idea of what my final product will somewhat look like.
This problem was solved by putting together a storyboard, visualising the exact kinds of imagery and shots I planned to feature in my title sequence (although things are always subject to change). I admittidly could have created a more proffesional one, following industry storyboard standards, but mine was just a quick one mainly for my eyes only.
